I have used this with my XP machines and it works well. It is much better than the Cisco Linksys products which all have poor software and short range.

However beware since there are no Windows 7 drivers as I found when I tried this on a new laptop.

I bought a Belkin 150n wireless router & a 150n usb adapter at Walmart, I had a g mimo & was happy, but I left it with a friend when I moved.

This new 150n router & adapter says its good for 1000 ft. It has to travel through two walls & an upstairs floor. And still my wife’s windows computer functions as if it were connected through the cable.

It may be a bit more secure than the old g mimo, And my Asus linux program laptop dosent want to talk through the wifi, the cable works fine on it though.

If you are looking for a more secure wifi & faster, for a windows computer, I would say that this is a perfect choice. Maybe soon Linux will also be a priority in the new future, at least I hope so. Lee Geiger, Orlando, Fla.

The 802.11 G wireless in my laptop died. I decided to find an N USB Adapter. This is the one I settled on.

I plugged it into the laptop. Vista asked for the disk that came with so I inserted that. Within 45 seconds I was operating wirelessly with zero effort. [I did not install the Belkin software and will stay with my Windows wireless as I've read elsewhere that the Belkin is a resource hog.]

OS: Vista 32 Home

Router: Netgear WNDR3300

Speed tests: 3000-3500 kb download; 300-340 kb upload on several different tests. This is faster than my wired connection on my desktop.

Simple and fast (and a great price too).

UPDATE: Belkin has released the Windows 7 drivers for the unit! Sweet! I changed it to 5 stars and am very happy with this product. Thanks Belkin for providing the new drivers!

I like this network card but I changed my OS to windows 7 several months after buying this card and it definately does NOT work with windows 7. As of January 10, 2010 Belkin has not provided drivers for windows 7. Seems that Belkin should have provided the drivers for win7 by now… It may never work with win 7…. If you don’t plan on “upgrading” to win7 then it’s a great card but until they release a driver for win7, it will be useless for me.

I had a huge dissatisfaction dealing with USB adapters in Vista x64. Tried two Linksys which exhibited the same errors, and after this Belkin worked for more than a day I thought that it was something with the Linksys brand. However, the errors were still happening. Whenever I tried to copy large files between PCs over my home network, the connection was dropped due to “limited connectivity” and was back after 5 minutes. But then I gave a shot to Vista 32-bit and the adapter worked perfectly.

This adapter has really no frills, the box comes with a CD, a sheet of paper and the device itself, only. The CD installs only the driver, so you don’t end up with those useless softwares that usually are part of the installation.

I gave four stars instead of five because the big “N” in the box is really misleading. If my priority was to get a “N” adapter and I got this, I would be pretty furious to learn that it is not really a N, but a G. Naughty, naughty.
