Easy setup, had a problem with the last two Linksys 160n’s with range and through put. This router is streaming wireless Netflix on a BD player, working two wireless laptops, two desktops and handling network printing without hesitation. Haven’t played with the USB port yet, but look forward to it. Needed a NAS for video access.

I recommended this in the checkout line to someone else, ’cause at $54, this is a great deal for a N access point alone.

Update as of end of August 2010: I downloaded a brand new firmware update and it has fixed several issues that I had – namely the lag time between when I wake my laptop from sleep mode and when the wireless kicks in and the dropped connection issues. My speeds also seem to be more steady (although it’s only been a few days so I can’t say for sure yet). Overall I’m still pretty happy with the router – keep in mind it’s being compared to a Linksys Wrt54G that had to be reset multiple times daily.

    Original Review

I’ve had this router for about a month now – and, for the most part, have been very pleased with it. It was fairly easy to set up – although it hiccuped several times and had to be re-done (lost the info) and I’ve had to reset it twice in the 4 weeks we’ve had it. The signal strength seems fine (we are in a small 780 square foot apartment so it’s not really a test of this).

So once I got it set up it has been running well (and admittedly that took a while with the issues – no tech support needed). I never call tech support’s as I’m usually very frustrated trying to understand the techs. The speeds can vary widely – from lows in the teens of Mbps to highs in the mid 100′s Mbps but it never seems to drag too noticably. We’ve run 4 devices at a time (Laptop, PC, Wii streaming netflix, and a PSP) and have had no problems. There have been a couple of updates come through that we’ve installed. After one of them we did have a problem and had to re install software and do the password again. Nothing since though.

We came to this router when our Linksys gave out – and we had to reset that multiple times per day up to double digits on weekend days. So far this is nothing like that at all. We are very happy with it and it has continued to perform well. We do not use the Share features (don’t much care right now about them) as it was bought as a wireless router only without a need for some of the other functions. I can’t speak to how it works for those things.

The 4 stars is for the fact it was a bit more complicated than it should be setting up (since it made us restart the set up) and for the fact it has required a small number of resets. It is still so much less than our old Linksys that it hardly even blimps on the radar. Also the fact that speeds vary can be a bit strange – while we normally are around 54-78 Mbps we see some dipping – honestly I’m not sure if that’s the router or the cable company. Overall I am very satisfied. Rest assured I will come back and update if we encounter any problems!

The router works as advertised and was a little tough setting up.

The main reason I purchased this router is because of the USB to be able to hook up a printer and external hard drive. The problem is you have to pick one of them at a time.

I used a USB hub to have both printer and hard drive connected at the same time but the devices do not power up with a hub.

Will be returning unless I can find a solution for this.

This is the easiest router I’ve ever connected and I’ve connected several both wired and wireless. 3 easy steps as it says on the box, connect the router to the modem, plug in the router, insert the CD and the CD does the rest and it worked the first time around. Not one issue. Ditto with connecting the printer, plug in the USB cable from the printer, it detects a printer and asks if you want to connect it and that’s it. Printer worked first time from my laptop over Wi-Fi and I have an old printer, a Canon MP830 which is 4 years old, and still no issues. If your printer driver isn’t installed it will tell you so you can install it then it will finish connecting. Incredible, I didn’t believe the hype on the product info but for me it worked as promised.

This wireless router was easy to install set up and use. I had it all running with no hitches in a minimal amount of time. The install CD did it all and that was it. No issues since.

You can also connect an external hard drive (a MyBook, for example) using the USB port. I tried that and it also worked immediately.
