Network Accessories Buffalo Technology AirStation High Power N150 Wireless Router & AP WHR-HP-GN (White)WIRELESS N150 HIGH POWER WRLSROUTER & ACCESS POINT$49.99http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31vNAHUloVL._SL160_.jpg
The N-150 works great, the only glitch I had was with the installion. Using the CD to install was not successfull, so I called the 800 help line. Seems to be some problem now and then with Windows XP. The Tech I spoke to was helpful and we got the unit working shortly thereafter.
I bought this router a couple of weeks ago through Amazon. I have never been a great fan of wireless due to limitations on devices I have used in the past but in this instance one was needed. Product works fantastically, better than any other router I have tried before. There is no manual for setup, just a cd which should do all the work for you. When setting this up it didn’t work exactly as I would like and I had to change a couple of settings manually, I don’t know if this was just my setup in particular but it is no big deal to do. I have been streaming video from my network server and the internet with no problems. I would definitely recommend this product if you need a router for general purpose use and for less than $50 it’s a steal!
I needed a wireless bridge so I could plug my new Blu Ray player into my network to access Netflix, Amazon On Demand, etc. I had setup wireless access points before but never a bridge. I bought two of these for bridging purposes and the setup was a breeze. Worked the first time.
This Buffalo router as smaller than I expected, the size of a small paperback book. Pluging it in is fairly simple. The CD setup did not work but I set it up relatively easily in the web browser. Using the ‘expert’ setup you can control many attributes of the system if you are a big tech person. I could not figure out how to change the name as seen by other devices however. I had difficulty figuring out how to set the password, but I dicovered that the password is printed on the router. The AOSS system is very easy to use, I connected my Wii easily in about 2 minutes with almost no effort on my part.
My perspective: I’m a ham radio guy and like to tinker with 802 equipment and antennas. This router is perfect for my needs. I also use it for a simple home network connected to a 9mb/sec cable DSL. I don’t do video, gaming or other high bandwidth stuff with it.
These routers and a couple of other Buffalos should be coming with DD-wrt already installed any time now. Mine arrived with the regular Buffalo firmware. I flashed it to the specific DD-WRT for the HP-GN (version 14311) before doing anything with it. It has been rock solid for several days on the home network.
I use this router and another of the same model for antenna testing. The single antenna port makes this easy, as I don’t have to compensate for another antenna (yeah, I know I can switch antennas off with DD firmware, but I get lazy). I also like the excellent signal strength views in the DD GUI. Makes it much easier to tinker with antenna adjustments when trying new designs.
Buffalos have a well deserved reputation for not being for the faint of heart during set up. The DD-WRT can also be a bit intimidating (what are all those setting for anyway??). But, if you make it through that with either the Buffalo or DD-WRT stuff you should have a solid little router that will do nicely in basic networks. For around $40, that’s hard to beat.
Firstly, this is a great price. Secondly all the features you need are there. The good thing is, you only need to use the features you require so the setup can be as simple or as complex as you make it. If you want it to work right out of the box with minimal tweaking then it will. If there’s something you don’t understand and it’s not covered by the Quick-Start Guide then you probably don’t need to mess with that setting.
I loved my original Buffalo AirStation until it got hit by lightning and this unit has proved a great replacement/upgrade. It works throughout the house and I no longer require a repeater to get total hi-speed coverage.
Installed in less than 15 minutes using the Quick Set Up instructions. It replaced my old failing Netgear MR 814. I have had it running for a month now without any problems at all. It is fast, stable and has a better range than my old router.
If you’re not a geek, this router is awesome. It comes with a CD which guides you through installation and secure setup. (The #1 problem with wireless routers is security, and the setup process is the solution.) It supports WPS, which means, you can hold down a button on the router for a few seconds, and then your devices (laptops, many Blu-Ray players) will automatically and securely negotiate connection to the router (no more entering crazy-long passwords).
If you’re a geek, Buffalo actively supports DD-WRT (you can download it from their web site). In addition, the specs are great: 32 MB of RAM and 4 MB of flash space.

My old router did not work very well in our living room or in the far bedrooms. When it died last week, I was mainly looking for an inexpensive router that would work in all areas of the house. This router does exactly that. I have very fast download speeds and have wireless access in every corner of our home. Rooms that used to have barely 1 bar now have 4 or 5. I can stream Netflix on my 52″ tv with no problems. I even watched a movie from Amazon Video on Demand in HD without interruptions. For reference, the computer I watched the movie on has a wireless G card that’s at least 3 years old now. I would highly recommend this router.
This wireless router was set up and running in less than 10 minutes, and most of that time I spent trying to untangle the cable mess behind my old router. The method Buffalo uses to autodetect the wireless is great – no messing around with security keys at all. Also, this router seems to be quite a bit faster than my old D-Link Super ‘G’. You won’t be disappointed with this excellent product. I wish I had discovered the Buffalo products a long time ago.
