Product Description

The Wireless-N USB Network Adapter uses the very latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N's Multiple In, Multiple Out (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce Dead Spots in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections up to 4 times farther than standard Wireless-G. With Wireless-N, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great with standard Wireless-G and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are Wireless-N, the throughput can be increased even more by using twice as much radio band, yielding speeds up to 12 times as fast as standard Wireless G. Your wireless connection is protected by industrial-strength 256-bit encryption. The included Setup Wizard will walk you through configuring the adapter to your network's settings, step by step.

I was having trouble receiving and keeping a signal in airports and hotels. My laptop has a built-in mini wireless device that is not very strong unless you are very close to the source. I could receive an excellent signal if I sat in a hotel lobby, but back in my room I had nothing but trouble. Someone suggested this adapter so I gave it a try. I love it. I have had no problems connecting at hotels since I bought this adapter. I am running Vista. I can honestly say I have not had one minute of trouble. I am buying another one for my older laptop at home since I now have wireless at my home. I would recomend this adapter to anyone who needs extra signal strength.

I got this with my new linksys wireless-n router and this little thing works great. In a part of the house where I barely got a signal from my old dlink w-g router I know get a 70-80% strong signal with speeds between 250-350mbps!

I highly recommend this adapter to anyone. That stand, although it comes with the adapter, is not needed. The retail comes with an extra ~1ft long usb extension cord.

Remember: All Linksys wireless-n adapters and routers are backwards compatible to w-b/g.

I hope this helped anyone. The price may seem high but for the speed and reliability you get, you’d wonder why you didn’t hear/get it sooner.

I see some folks mentioned that they can’t play World of Warcraft (WoW) with this adapter. I’m playing WoW with this at a great speed.

Things to try if you have trouble: Download the newest drivers. The ones in the box are old (at least the CD i got was a few versions old). Try changing the Radio Band to Normal. Try different Channels (like 11). Stop & Disable the “Wireless Zero Configuration” in the “Adminstrative Tools -> Services …” section. There other things to try on various forums if you search around.

I have the Linksys 330N Gaming Router and things work great for me playing Warcraft.

Using the Linksys WUSB300N Wireless-N USB Network Adapter (paired with their new 4400N router) enabled me to get a true improvement over my previous Wireless-B and Wireless-G pairing of devices. Keeping an N / N set-up in place yielded an 80 – 100% increase in signal strength. Also, the typical new connection’s speed went from 11.0 MBPS to 160.0 MBPS (and above); I haven’t lost any connections due to the Linksys N hardware, it’s there whenever I want it. I haven’t yet ventured into setting up the VPN features so I can’t comment on it. If you have signal strength and/or connection speed issues with your old hardware, the utilization of the new draft-N devices (at both ends) should get you what you want. As expected, Vonage works perfectly on the 4400N router’s ethernet type cable connection ports…so no worries there. COMMENT: I did have to play with the set-up of the WUSB300N; if I recall correctly, I had to let Windows set up the device first, then go and get the driver on the furnished software disk. Linksys’ recommended set-up procedure didn’t seem to go in a direction that made me feel at ease…so I abandoned that approach and resorted to a more typical set-up approach within Windows.

I have had three different USB network adapter in the last one year. Linksys WUSB300N Wireless-N USB Network Adapter is the most stable and fastest one.

Prior to this one, I had a similar product from Belkins. Everytime I restarted my machine, somehow the device couldn’t start by itself and I often had to unplug it and plug it back in to get it recognized. With Linksys WUSB300N, nothing like that happens. As soon as the computer starts, the device starts to work correctly.

For additional information, I use Netgear WNR854T RangeMax NEXT Wireless Router Gigabit Edition as my router, and Linksys WUSB300N works perfectly fine.

This adapter really works. Easy to install. Just stick in the installation CD then follow the instruction on screen. No hassle to crack open your PC. In 15 minutes you’re browsing the internet with high speed. Why don’t I get it long time ago.

Did I mention it is wall mountable too. Neat.

To fix all the speed and connection issues, simply use a wireless 300N router and connect this to your computer. Then, make sure you use the wireless networking software pre-installed on your computer rather than the wireless network monitor that comes with this product. Your issues should be resolved. Also, for further improvement, setup a secure network from your main router and then add the computer(s) on your wireless network using the main router to the secure network. This will block unwanted users from piggy-backing on your network space thus allowing for faster and less congested access to your own network

Since I have a Linksys Wireless N router and now need a little more distance and strength than the built-in wireless G in my computer I decided to try this, despite the cost. My throughput is now twice my nearby wired connection, over 200k bps! Dependable strong signal and it goes further!

I recommend purchase for those needing higher and stronger connections, especially if you already have the Linksys Wireless-N router.

I have a Gateway MT6451 Laptop with Windows Vista.

A seperate “Vista Installation” pamphlet was included within the box and the outside of the box had a sticker “Certified for Windows Vista”, so I may have an adapter from a recently manufactured lot (although the box does say copyright 2006, if that even matters).

Nonetheless, after following the install instructions provided for Windows Vista users, I was able to receive “excellent” signal ratings where before I had “weak” and “very low” signal ratings, and can now detect wi-fi transmitters that had been nonexistent to the interal antenna.

You can either plug the cell phone-size unit directly into a USB slot or plug it into the top of the included 6-ft extension cord and base (which then allows you to move the antenna around within a 6-ft radius of the laptop to find a “sweetspot”, kind of like we used to do with our dog-ear TV antennas).

    Thanks

First of all, there are Vista and XP drivers for this particular product on the Linksys site. I always download the latest drivers when I get a new piece of hardware for my computer.

I’ve used Linksys for all my wireless networks for years, and I always go through the stupidity of following the directions to set it up, then uninstalling their firmware and just using the drivers. This time was no different.

With their firmware, the monitor would show me connected with a good signal, but I wouldn’t actually be able to open a web page because I didn’t have a connection. After chucking the firmware and just using the driver and letting Windows configure it, everything worked perfectly. The speed is amazing.

You’d think I’d learn by now.
