Yes, it really works. I recieved the Xtreme N 2.4GHZ antenna today and in a couple of seconds had it working. My signal strength went from “very low” to “very good”. The only problem is the cord is a little short which I already knew from another reviewer. Thanks. I put the Antenna on my desk and now I can even get some of my neighbors networks. Great solution for a weak signal. Thanks. I am using this connected to a D-Link DWA-552 desktop adapter and I am getting my signal from a D-Link DIR-655. Works great.

I bought two of these for PC’s that have D-Link DWA-552 Xtreme N wireless adapter cards. Both PC’s sit on the floor under desks. The PC’s are networked with a D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme N wireless router.

The first PC is in another room 29 feet from the router. There is one wall (wood frame/drywall) between the PC and the router. The D-Link ANT24-0230 antenna boosted the original signal strength of 3 bars (good) to a solid 5 bars (excellent). The antenna sits on top of the computer desk. I had to play around with the position of the three antennas to get a consistent 5 bar signal strength.

The second PC is in another room 51 feet from the router. There are four walls (wood frame/drywall) between the PC and the router. The D-Link ANT24-0230 antenna boosted the original signal strength of 2 and an occasional 3 bars (low to good) to a solid 4 bars (very good). The antenna sits on top of the computer desk monitor stand. I had to play around with the position of the three antennas to get a consistent 4 bar signal strength.

I have a D-Link DIR-655 Extreme N Wireless Router in my basement and my computer on the main floor. I used to get about 55 to a max of 80% for my signal strength. This antenna is amazing. I now get 87 to 100% on a daily basis.

I did a little check with my laptop and noticed even several houses away, I can still get the internet.

Great product. I definitely recommend it, as I own a computer servicing company.

I used this antenna to move WiFi transmission beyond a plaster wall and away from some other electronics. That seemed to make all the difference – I tested two spots where I previously had trouble and there are no dropouts and faster transmission.

This antenna does work. It’s all in the way you position it. It’s design leaves a little to be desired but, if you position it just right, it works. I connected the antenna to my router, ran the cable under my scanner and up through the back so the antenna sits on top of the scanner. My signal went from “Low” and “Very Low” to “Very Good” on both my wireless N equipped PC and Laptop. Considering the router is on the other side of my apartment in my bedroom; some 60 feet away with a wall in between, it’s great. I would recommend it.

My PC is stuffed into a credenza that holds my HDTV which is connected to the PC with an HDMI/DVI cable. The performance of the D-Link DWA-556 card was usually poor to very poor mainly due to placement of the PC. I decided to try this antenna even though it was not advertised as being compatible with the the DWA-556. When I hooked up this antenna, which now sits along side the TV, the signal strength jumped to excellent and web pages load noticeably faster. Needless to say I am totally satisfied!

Used this antenna on my sons computer which is facing away from the router, tucked into his desk at the other end of the house. Essentially the purpose for which the antenna was made. Went from very low signal to full strength. Worked great!

Worked as advertised. Leave the router out of sight (so the flashing blue lights are hidden) and get the same or better reception.

My PCs sit on the floor underneath a desk. I got connectivity but it was “Low” to “Good”. I bought ONE antenna to try it out. It is great! Signal went up to “Very Good” and an occasional “Excellent”. I bought two more and had the same results.

I bought the D-Link DWA-556 for my computer very recently, and although it worked fine, the signal strength was a tad low (after all, I am in a basement with several walls between me and the access point). I bought the antenna to try to fix the problem, even if it only helped a little. After a very quick install (we’re talking 2 minutes), the antenna worked wonderfully. Before, I had 0 (yes, 0) bars, and Windows actually said I didn’t have a connection (even though the wireless worked fine). Now, with the antenna, I have 4 bars, and could probably get all 5 if I played around with it enough.

The only thing to know is that PLACEMENT IS CRUCIAL!!!! That’s for both where you mount/place it, AND how you angle the three different antennas. A few inches is all the difference between 2 and 4 bars.

Seriously. I’m impressed. Regardless of how the DWA-556 might be failing to perform as it should, the antenna easily makes up for it.
