I have been using this adapter on a back-porch computer of a mobile home about 25 ft away from my D-Link 615. The signal must travel around corners and the exterior of the mobile home is aluminum. I get a full 5 bars on the signal end and get very fast speeds. For the price I would recommend this adapter to everyone. Good product, great price. A big thumbs up!

Gets excellent signal strength even when upstairs from the router – I was worried a usb dongle wouldn’t get as good a signal as an adapter with multiple external antennaes but it does just fine. Installation was painless and if you have a newer router, it’ll pretty much set itself up using the push to connect – basically you click a button on the adapter setup then click the push to connect button on your router and it will get the settings and connect itself. I have it connected to a linksys router with no problems, operating in a mixed G/N environment. It reports wi-fi thruput at 270mbps which is max for my router – I haven’t benchmarked actual thruput, so I’m not sure if it really is getting that kinda speeds or not. Overall, it performs better than I expected, which often isn’t the case with wireless products.

Installed within just a couple minutes. Allowed to totally mypass my internal wireless card which is stuck at 11 Mbps, 802.11b and WEP only, and worked only half the time. I was considering getting a whole new laptop.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a 2.0 compliant usb. I don’t and I still connect at between 162 and 243 Mbps. I should mention that I have the D-Link DIR-615 which is 802.11n compliant, so compatibility issues were nil.

It comes with its own cradle or you can plug it directly into the usb slot.

Even though it’s small, it’s still a bit bulky as it sticks out on the side and if you’re mobile with it, you’ll have to careful you don’t bump or hit it.

Overall I’m very impressed. I didn’t expect this kind of performance from a usb adapter over 1.1 usb at that.

I honestly don’t like D-link products buttt The cheaper usb adapter draft N that I found was this one IN a local store so I went and bought one.. it has a good signal reception… I use it on a VERy VERYYY old PC running Xp professional and where other usb adapters had 0% signal this unit had 44% of the signal…Then I went and change it for the DWA-140model which says it comes with range booster but it had the same signal strength than the DWA-130 and for 20$$ more so I went Again and changed it for the DWA-130 and to get it work with 70-84% of signal I bought a 16ft usb cable extender and place it on a better place…. BUT IT is a very Good Choice… OHH very easy Setup!!!

I just got the DWA-130 and initially I was surprised at the size. It is replacing a Belkin USB network adapter, and it is about the same width and thickness, but not as long. The cap, when taken off to plug in the adapter, doesn’t have a place to go, so I assume that it will be lost in short time. It will probably go in the laptop bag and stay there.

I am currently running Vista-32, and all I needed to do was plug the device in and Windows installer prompted me to load the CD for the device drivers. Once the drivers are installed, then it found my network, and here I am writing this review. I can’t really test the blazing speeds that it promotes since I only have a G router at home. I will have to give an update when I get onto campus.

At this time, there is a flashing red/orange light that shows that there are packets being transferred. Not bright, but there to let you know it is working. Somewhat warm to the touch, but that is to be expected. I can’t say how long it will hold up, but I am going to keep it on the USB stand that came with the adapter, since my last adapter broke because it was plugged straight into the laptop and the adapter fell apart from all the abuse of it bending up and down.

Easy install (for my system) and it being small enough to travel with makes this a wonderful adapter.

Use two USB on seperate machines with the DIR 655 wireless and have improved distance, speed and performance. Highly recommend.

The adapter works fine once I got it up and running. The cradle is the key for making it work. If you plug it directly into the usb port of the tower, the signal was blocked and inoperable but having the cradle placed on the surface of the desk eliminates the problem. This was not suggested by the staff at the help desk.

I use my laptop at work on a wireless network that recently upgraded to the latest “N” technology. Bought the D-Link adapter based on the price and reviews. I had it up and running within about ten minutes. The instructions for install were helpful and clear. The only downside is the size. The adapter is bigger than most USB add-ons (such as a USB mouse) and blocks any adjacent USB port. There is an included wired USB cradle for the times when you need to use your other USB port. One other caution is that the adapter gets quite warm after extended use. Not sure if that is normal for this type of adapter. So far it works great!

I couldn’t be happier with this little USB adaptor. It was a breeze to set up and works better than I’d expected (especially compared to the Linksys WUSB54GSC it replaced).

Initially I connected this to my a Linksys WRT54GX4 802.11g access point. Though positioned identically to the my original Linksys USB wireless adaptor, the D-Link DWA-130 often reported 100% singnal strength and data transfer rates were almost always right at 54Mbs. This where the Linksys adaptor had conectivity issues and often reported speeds of 1 to 5.5Mbs.

I recently upgraded the access point to a D-Link DIR-655. Once again, a breeze and now (for about what I spent on the Linksys components) I’ve gone from sub-10Mbs connecton speeds to speeds typically between 117Mbs and 130Mbs! This was the best $182 I’ve spent in awhile!

I just purchased this wireless adapter yesterday and i must say i am impressed with how easily it gets a signal. I currently attend a University which has N wireless which my laptop only took b/g. The D-link adapter connected very easily even without the cradle. I own a Toshiba netbook without a dvd drive, so all i did was copy the drivers to a separate usb flash drive and installed them. Very easy to use.
