I was using a Linksys wired router/switch for a few years. I was constantly losing VPN connection and having to re-connect. I put in VOIP (Vonage) phone and had to restart every 3 hours. I thought I had cable modem problems, network problems, config. problems on router. Finally, I ordered the D-Link EBR-2310 (because it was very inexpensive). I took it out of the box, plugged it in, connected my (4) network cables including a wireless connection. In 6 weeks I have not had a single connection problem. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! – highly recommended.

The Linksys wired router on my home network had served well for about 5 years, only occasionally requiring a power down to reconnect when the DHCP lease time was up. But after buying two new computers running Vista, it consistently failed to renew the lease automatically, requiring a manual release and renew every one or two days. So I did a little research and found this D-Link router on a list of Vista compatible devices. I was a little skeptical, not really seeing why the PC OS should have an effect on the router’s operation. But apparently it does. The good news – not a single problem in the one month since installing it.

The installation wizard was flawless. It figured out that there was already a router on the network (the old Linksys) and suggested that I follow the procedure for replacing it. It stepped through each power-down and cable disconnect and reconnect. The three computers on the network were all back on-line in less than ten minutes – and I was working slowly!

The router came bundled with optional software – Network Magic. Some people rave about it, but after reading the license agreement I found it too invasive for the small amount of additional information and/or convenience it provides over what is already offered by Vista and so have not used it.

I used this router to connect my iBook, xbox 360 and ps3 to the internet. The setup CD doesn’t work with Macs but the online setup wizard was simple to use. I had it all setup in less than 10 minutes.

Great price on this router. My computer technician went to Best Buy and suggested that I get this one. I knew I could find it cheaper on Amazon. And sure enough, I saved quite a bit! Thanks Amazon. Great router, and easy to install.

Very easy to install and use. I got this so that I could have my PC (Dell XPS 410) and XBOX 360 connected to the internet at the same time. I have 2 tips for you:

    1. If you have VISTA, DON’T run the CD. VISTA can detect a new network. All you need to do is, connect your modem to the primary port, then your computer and other devices to the numbered ports. That is it, that’s all I did and everything works great.

    2. Dont forget you will need a cable for any other things you want to connect. The unit comes with one (short) cable-so you can connect your modem to your router, then your pc to the router, but that 2nd pc, or 360, or whatever you’ll need another cable. Suprising how many forget this :)

Its a great router, price is good, easy set up works great. Recommended!

For years I was using an older wired D-Link router, and when I switched from DSL to cable, the technician told me my less than blazing speed was a router problem. Since I am only networking two computers and wasn’t requiring a wireless network, I chose the basic EBR-2310.

Setup with the enclosed disk was super simple and fast. Even a novice can follow the simple instructions. The router comes with a cable (not needed since I already have one installed, a power supply and the instruction disk with everything you need to know on the disk. Extra network software (Network Magic) is included. It, too, installed easily, however, it should be noted that this version is not compatible with Windows 7. Not a problem for my XP machine.

In less than 20 minutes my network was functioning. And the kicker: I went from download speed of 321 kbps to 11,218 kbps!

If you only require a wired four hub router, this is the one to buy.

I bought this for my son’s XBox360 live, because it is one of the recommened wired routers to use with Xbox Live. It was easy to set up and have not had any problems so far.

This is a great little router and with a price tag of about $35 its an incredible deal. I’ve been using it for around a month now and have had no problems. I am sort of new to networking and have never set up a router in my life and was able to have this one up and was on the internet in just minutes. I currently have a Windows 7 pc and my Xbox 360 attached to it and the performance is top notch. I can still surf the net just as fast as I did when I just had a straight to modem connection and I’ve never received any lag at all while playing on Xbox Live. I would like to note that if you are using this router with a Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer you do not need to use the install disk that comes with it; just plug it all in and turn your computer on and Windows will do everything for you. If you are running any other o.s. you need to use the install disk. This is a great router but I do actually have one thing that I cannot figure out and I feel the need to tell others about. You see, the router works perfectly fine but for some reason it will not work with Bittorrent clients very well. I’m not sure why this is; I’ve looked into it and have not been able to figure out why. My friend has a D-Link and has the same problem that I do. We both use Vuze and as soon as you open the program the internet will stop working; but as soon as you close it out the net starts working again. I believe that this is just some incompatibility with the ports or something and I did try port forwarding and it didn’t work. With all this being said this is a great router and I would not hesitate a second to buy it again or another D-Link product. Unless all you ever do on your computer is Bittorrent(and if you don’t know what this means don’t worry about it, everything will work fine with your system) this is a perfect wired router for any application.

Excellent product that works right out of the box, easy to use, and has sufficient set of security features for home use. I was a bit skeptical buying it as a cheaper alternative to the Netgear product that I could not get to work. However, this router works well on my Mac and has so far not given me any trouble. Good job, D-Link!

This router installed without a hitch, using the enclosed CD. Now I don’t have to pay an extra $2 a month to Comcast for a wireless router which would have been less secure than this wired router. To all of you considering the cable company’s wireless router option, DON’T DO IT. I simply drilled a hole through the wall close to the baseboard using a long drill bit extension, and then snaked an ethernet cable through it, using a coat hanger wire, to the next room where my son has his computer. Then as soon as the internet cable installer left, I followed the instructions for the router, and then repeated the software installation on my son’s machine, plugging his end of the ethernet cable into his machine, and the other end of his ethernet cable into the #2 blue port of the modem.

The only deficiency I can think of in the instructions was that there should have been some mention as to how to connect additional computers into the router. But it turns out it is basically the same as the initial installation, so I figured it out. I am a 60 year-old female. If I can do it, you can do it.

Do get this one. It is working without problems.
