I’m very happy with this purchase. I was able to upgrade my Wireless G to N and remove some of my clutter on my desk by getting rid of my wireless modem. My internet actually appears to be a little faster using this versus the standard Motoral DSL modem I got with AT&T. Now I’m going to sell my old DSL modem on Ebay for a few bucks to help offset this cost. Got it shipped overnight with Amazon Prime for $3.99!

This is the best router I’ve owned and that it is a modem also – makes it great. Speed is fast, setup on my Mac OSX was a breeze as was setup on my XP and Vista computers. I love it.

I have had this router now for about 3 weeks running two wireless and two networked computers. It replaced the Actiontec modem/wireless provided by Qwest and an old SMC Barricade router.

I am pleased with this unit. My prior setup would sometimes lose the Internet and the problem could only be solved by rebooting both. 3 weeks of uptime to date and not one issue.

The Netgear also has a better setup utility. I like that you can not only have network security, but also specify which computers are allowed to connect to the wireless.

For just under $100, this is a great product. I highly recommend it.

My DSL connection started to go up and down like a yo-yo. The culprit was my eight year old Alcatel 1000 modem. I purchased the DGN 2000 and combined three pieces of hardware (modem, wireless access point and router). The DGN 200 is rock solid. My two kids were home from college over Thanksgiving and their MacBooks were in almost constant use. The wireless network performed flawlessly even though the router is located in the basement.

It would be nice if Netgear would have included a USB port for a network printer or hard drive. Other than that, I am very satisfied with this product.

I purchased the Netgear DGN2000 combination wireless n router and ADSL Modem to upgrade to wireless N. The product was extremely easy to set up. I have had this product for a month now and it works as advertised. The WiFi signal strength is much better in the home with wireless n. I can transfer picture and music files much quicker between computers on my home network.

This little modem is much better than the one offered by my DSL provider. It is fast, with a great wireless range. We live in a little, lathe and plaster house that inhibits wireless and cell phone connections. Finding something that works has been more than a little frustrating, but this little modem packs quite the punch, especially considering the price. I love that I can turn it off. Not only does the feature save us a little on the energy bill, but it also increases the life of the modem.

I have used this product for a couple of weeks now, and it has been great. I switched from a 2wire I bought from my ISP about a year ago. It was okay, but never negotiated my speed above 2Mbs, and I subscribe to up to 3Mbs. With the Netgear, my DSL speed negotiation with the ISP has consistently been at the complete upper range of what I subscibe to, both up and down. The interface isn’t too bad, but not as “easy-GUI” as 2wire. As with anything dealing with networking equipment, I recommend that you have someone install this that knows what they are doing. I work with networks and servers, and this still took me a few minutes to figure out.

You can run Wireless N at 130Mbs, or 270Mbs. I leave mine at 130Mbs because it is more consistent, plus my computer communicates with devices plugged into the on-board switch/router on the Netgear, and they only run at 100Mbs anyway. Don’t worry though, because #1, your DSL is nowhere near 100Mbs, and #2, I don’t know many people that saturate a 100Mbs or 130Mbs network port in their home network.

The main suggestion I have for installing this product is to print all of the settings from your existing Modem before installing. It auto-detects to a degree, but my ISP had sold me a speed of DSL it wasn’t supposed to and I was too far from the ISP access point for the Modem to auto-pull information. I have since downgraded my speed, and I don’t fault this modem, that is just a suggestion. With the information in hand, the setup was quick and painless.

This was bought to replace a Qwest-provided Actiontec DSL modem. The old one was hanging and requiring a power-off reset up to several times a day, and I was getting tired of having to do that.

The package arrived yesterday. I opened it and popped the setup CD into the drive, and it would spin, chatter, then eject. I went to the Netgear web site and grabbed the setup and reference manual .pdf files, downloaded the firmware update, and started hooking everything up. The web interface had a setup wizard; the router went through this and configured itself pretty well. I performed the firmware update, then went in and tweaked a few settings (I have a static IP address, set up wireless security, etc.) I was up and online within about 30 minutes of unwrapping the package.

This was one of the easiest setups I’ve ever had to do. This item worked well, straight from the box, without a lot of hassles. I didn’t have to contact Qwest or my ISP. With the network setup I have at home (mix of Mac and PC, wired and wireless, with a networked laser printer) this works very well. I beat the heck out of the network last night and, even with the strange mix of systems and an additional wireless access point there were no problems at all.

I would have given one less star for the CD not working, but I found that it really wasn’t needed and the installation and setup went extremely smoothly.

My AT&T 2-Wire Gateway failed after 18 months, so I didn’t want to buy another AT&T modem. BestBuy and Fry’s had empty shelf spaces where the brand-name DSL modems should be, so I ended up with a TRENDnet modem from Fry’s. Connecting the TRENDnet modem to AT&T was a bear, and I could never get a steady Internet connection.

So, I went to Amazon and got the DSL modem I wanted in the first place – this one. After all the trouble I had with the TRENDnet modem, I couldn’t believe how easily this Netgear modem connected, and I was amazed to see that the Internet connection was rock-solid. Setting up a wireless network was a breeze, and the signal strength seems stronger than what I had on the 2-Wire and TRENDnet routers.

One slight problem – my primary computer had trouble accessing Internet sites at first, although the wireless computers worked fine from the very start. I rebooted the modem and the computer, and everything has worked fine ever since. I don’t know if it was a firewall conflict or what, but all it took was a simple reboot to solve the problem.
