I decided to take a chance on a refurbished unit as I’ve had good luck on other refurbished electronics. This arrived and worked right out of the box. I was lacking the instruction sheet but found plenty of info online, particularly through the BellSouth support page for Netopia gateways. I had a little confusion, thinking that the modem wasn’t working correctly, but determined that (Imagine the odds) both my DSL service initially went down and when it finally came back up, my iGoogle page was down. Anyway, turned out not to be the gateway. It works great, is fast, has what appears to be a well-made power adapter, and I like that the lights are larger than the 2Wire and D-Link gateways I’ve had in the past. Hooking up wireless to my notebook was a no-brainer. I personalized the SSID and turned on NAT but after that it worked well and was fast. I’d have no problems recommending the Netopia 3347NWG-006 and if you can find a good refurbished model from a reputable dealer, go with it and save some bucks!
