I have two pc’s and one MacBook at home and needed something that would give more distance and faster wireless. I purchased the TEW-671BR without any knowledge of the brand and had my doubts about how much it might improve my signal. The product arrived quickly and does everything I hoped. At the end of one month I have no complaints about the product and recommend it to anyone. I did have problems setting up security but I am not an “expert” so I called their support line (yes, it is in India) and reached a tech is seconds; they walked me through the steps without a problem. All I can add is that everyone needs to understand you have both 2.4 and 5.0 bands and can use either but 5.0 does not cover as long a distance. Not a problem for me, one pc is on 2.4 another on 5.0 and the Mac can pick depending on which is best from any location.

The TrendNet router is a fairly feature rich product for the price point. Setup was simple and the interface intuitive. I only needed to open the manual for the default user credentials and IP address. The rest was easily handled through the browser interface.

    I would purchase it again.

I bought this router after looking at the top routers by others (DLink, Netgear, Cisco). I like to look at the low ratings first when I buy equipment and see common failings reported for multiple buyers. The others had lots of problems with respect to lack of customer service, reliability, and others. I started ranking routers strictly by rating and stumbled across the TrendNet routers. I’ll add that my older wired Netgear was beginning to fail, so I needed a replacement.

I’m a technical person (electrical engineer and software developer). This router was very easy to set up; I did not use the provided disk. I just plugged the WAN cable in, the LAN cables to the clients, and powered it up. I browsed into the standard HTTP address for the router. I saw the LAN side was active, but nothing on the WAN (internet) side. I realized I had forgotten to reset the cable modem, so I cycled its power and up everything came.

Just walking through the user interface shown in the browser was easy. I only messed with features that I needed. Both the 2.4 GHz and 5GHz radios can be powered on and off independently (a nice way to keep my teens with their laptops off the internet). I also added entries to the URL filter (blocked sites and blocked content).

I have had it up for a week or so with no problems whatsoever. I did notice that my iPod touch now can receive a signal all the way at my master bedroom (75 feet away with only a single door in between). I believe that the 5GHz signal is more easily blocked by walls and such, so your mileage may vary.

I have not tried hooking up streaming video, nor do I have a previous wireless router to compare speeds to.

I have couple desk tops and other wireless devices like laptop, itouch, wii. My old wireless router keep dropping the connection from time to time. I bought this one last week to replace it and have not seen any issues yet. The download and upload speed are much faster than my previous one.

I had bought the D-Link DIR-655 Extreme N Wireless Router, but returned it because it was not working properly. I did some research on the internet and stumbled upon this router. I had never heard of the brand before, and if you haven’t either don’t let that stop you. This router has not done me any wrong yet. I’ve had to restart it maybe once or twice, but it was as easy as logging into it wirelessly and pressing restart, unlike the D-Link I had.

    Pros:

    -Very easy to set up

-Easy to use. The menus are not too confusing

-Pretty reliable, at least after a couple months of usage

    -Dual connections

    Cons:

-Not that I expect so much out of a router, but it does lack some features. I have 2 Macs and have not been able to set up Back to My Mac yet and I have everything turned on correctly.

-Had to restart it once or twice, but that’s really nothing compared to other wireless routers I’ve had in the past. Could have just been my internet connection as well.

I was trying to set up a wireless network in my home, so I “read up” on how, what, why, etc. before I started. But quite frankly, I just got more and more confused as I went along. Nothing seemed to match what I was seeing – even though I could pretty much put a computer together – my understanding of networks was nil. So I called the troops in. My brother (the computer genius) came over and had the thing running and all configuration done within 20 minutes or so.

This is a dual band router, so I bought the dual band UBS adapter with it (TEW-664UB). The router was a floor and several walls away, and when the adapter was down near the floor close to the computer, the connection was low. But when I put a short extension on it, and just set it on my desk, I’m getting 240-260Mbps easily, with usually a good connection. Even when the connection says “low”, it’s still at 240 or so.

I’m totally satisfied with these products. They work JUST LIKE THEY SAY, and even though I was worried a little about the distance, there just isn’t any problem!

This router does exactly what it advertises. Concurrent dual-band w/ N speeds and all the features described above (I won’t repeat them here). Setup was a breeze, though I didn’t use the wizard and you probably don’t need to either as it’s all fairly intuitive. Set up the 2.4GHz network with the same SSID/auth as my previous router and all our devices worked seamlessly (3 laptops, 1 desktop, 2 Wiis), and all devices that could see the 5GHz band connected easily with WPA2 enabled.

The only feature that I wish was more robust is the QoS prioritization. Under a prioritization model the firmware only allows a setting of High/Low priority, or 2 levels, rather than the customary 4. Also, you can only add three custom QoS traffic types under this setting and if you game online in addition to VoIP and download torrent traffic heavily then you’ve already used those 3 slots, with no options for more. This being said, it does allow you to setup QoS with bandwidth allocation settings and that seemingly allows for as many settings you might want. However, if you’re looking for an easy way to setup QoS for multiple custom traffic types (based on port) then this likely isn’t the router for you.

That being said, speeds are still very good. I use torrents on a private tracker and easily get 1.5MB/s down wired, similar to my previous router. The difference here is that it handles the traffic based on my QoS settings without affecting my other connections, so I can easily play games online with torrent traffic in the background and don’t notice lag as before.

Wireless speeds are also solid. Depending on positioning and walls the 5GHz signal easily gets everywhere in the apartment (1000 sq ft), and average connection speed is somewhere around 230 Mbps when not in the same room. This is with both internal WiFi cards on ThinkPad T400 and the TRENDnet 300 Mbps Dual Band Wireless N USB Adapter TEW-664UB (Version v1.0R) which I also purchased from Amazon. 2.4GHz network works as before, which for me is pretty shoddy since I live downtown and there’s serious channel congestion here. That was my primary motivation for getting a 5GHz router in the first place and it’s done the job admirably. I’m sure, however, that for most people the 2.4GHz band will be just fine.

Overall a great purchase especially for the price at the time. Was 30 bucks less than the nearest competitor online (newegg) and shipping was FAST with Prime! I don’t regret the purchase and will by TRENDnet again in the future.

This is my first wireless router so I enlisted the help of a friend to setup and had running in less than 1/2 hour. The documentation could/should be simpler, but once you know what you’re doing it’s fairly easy. I located in lower level of our home, and we’re getting great reception throughout the house. My son plays WOW without any problems or delays. Only problem with unit was that the power adapter did not fit tightly into the back of the router – and could come loose if router or wire was jostled. I called Trendnet customer service, and the representative advised that this was a known issue and that new adapter was forthcoming – he advised to open a help desk ticket, which I did that day. The next day I received an email advising to RMA the power supply. Since the router was working and I wanted my son to be able to continue to have connectivity, I called Customer Service again and explained the situation (my son had just got the computer for Christmas). The Trendnet rep was very understanding and advised they would mail a new power supply that afternoon without requiring return of the current power supply. The new power supply was received two days later, and fits snugly into the router. I’ve only had up and running since 12/29/09, so I cannot comment on long term reliability yet – but so sar I’m favorably impressed with both product and service.

I installed this router and have not had problems now for about two weeks. My prior router needed resetting at least once a day. One note for Mac Safari users, the browser did not display the setup pages correctly. Firefox on the Mac worked great. Firefox also worked great on a PC.

I setup WPA security and an access list for my various computers and an IPod touch. I am connected via the N network with my Mac and three Windows machines are connected to the G network with the IPod.

Everything works great and I haven’t had to reset the router once since I installed it.

    So far, so good!

This is the first router I have owned and setup. It was very easy, with the help of a nice technical support man from Trendnet. Took 15 min. So far, 2 days, it is working well.
